QUARANTINE DECLARED IN TULA REGION DUE TO WEED

A quarantine was declared on the area of 53 hectares in Plavsk District of Tula Region due to the detection of the parasitic dodder outbreak. The outbreak of the harmful plant was found during the inspection of the agro-industrial territories of the district. Restrictive measures during the quarantine include the removal of dodder and preventing its spread beyond the established quarantine zone. Dodder is a parasitic climbing plant capable of decreasing the yield of agricultural crops significantly and impairing the quality of products. Contamination of the mown grass with dodder results in the growth of mold and diseases in cattle that eats such grass.
