ALL DEERS TO RECEIVE MODERN TAGS BY 2030

Yamal Autonomous Area is planning to provide all deers with modern RFID tags by 2030, the head of the veterinary service of the Area Yevgeny Popov said. Modern tags can be read at the distance of up to three metres. They store all information about manipulations conducted with the animals, from vaccination to treatment with different drugs. This makes it possible to know exactly what animals can be admitted to slaughter. Work becomes simpler too – earlier, specialists actually had to learn this information from databases in manual way. Yamal is one of the first regions that have implemented RFID technologies into the management of deer herds. The first experiments with tags were conducted in 2022, and the results showed the high efficiency and reliability of this system. The implementation of RFID technologies facilitates the increase of veterinary control level and the optimization of production processes in deer husbandry.
