FAR EASTERN ROE BECOMING MORE EXPENSIVE

Prices for a popular Russian delicacy, salmon roe, may rise to 15 thousand rubles in the Far East before the end of the current year. Red roe is already sold at such prices in the stores of Vladivostok airport. The delicacy is becoming more expensive despite the increase of salmon capture and large carry-over stocks. The estimations of the scientists for the whole fishing season are positive, 436 thousand tonnes. But roe has been growing in price since the beginning of the salmon fishing season. For example, on Kamchatka, which is the main salmon fishing area, the prices are up 2 thousand rubles per kilogram on last year. The average market price of red roe is from 11 850 to 13 450 rubles, but there is also a price of 14 990 rubles.
