FRUIT AND BERRY PRODUCTION TO GROW TO 3 MILLION TONNES BY 2030
20 June 2026 |
The commercial production of fruit and berries may grow to 3 million tonnes per year from the current 2.1 million tonnes in four years in Russia. This forecast was voiced by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrei Razin. The ministry calls intensive and superintensive technologies the growth driver in gardening, and their share in the newly established gardens has reached 95%. Six years ago, only half of established gardens were accounted for by intensive technologies. According to the calculations of the authorities, gardeners will additionally establish about 40,000 ha of plantings before 2030 using modern technologies. For apples, which are a key crop of commercial horticulture, the ministry is expecting to reach self-sufficiency in 2028. Apple yield will grow to 2.7 million tonnes by 2030, according to Razin’s estimates of the prospects of the sector. He also noted that commercial berry production had high potential for import substitution. The organized sector (agricultural organizations and peasant farm enterprises) showed maximum result last year, increasing yields to 26,500 tonnes.Source: https://www.agroinvestor.ru/markets/news/46136-proizvodstvo-plodov-i-yagod-vyrastet-do-3-mln-tonn-k-2030-godu/
