HOW BUSINESS IS PREPARING FOR THE TRANSITION TO ELECTRONIC CONSIGNMENT NOTES

The use of electronic consignment notes will become mandatory for all the participants of cargo transportation from 1 September 2026: consignors, consignees, carriers, freight forwarders, and drivers. Hard copies will remain for exceptional cases which are to be determined by the Ministry of Transport. The aim of mandatory electronic consignment notes is to reduce the number of violations during transportation, decrease document flow costs for businesses, increase the transparency and control of transportation, and ensure interaction with the state information system of electronic shipping documents. The level of readiness of the agricultural sector to the transition to electronic consignment notes correlates to the level of agribusiness’s digitalization on the whole. The introduction of electronic consignment notes coincides with the period of the harvesting campaign, which means that it will partially concern one of the most responsible seasons for agrarians. This imposes additional requirements to the readiness of all the links of the logistic chain. Along with this, labour costs for drawing up, transfer, and search of documents will reduce, the system will do part of the work automatically.
