IKAR EXPECTING BUCKWHEAT YIELD INCREASE BY 100 THOUSAND TONNES IN RUSSIA
15 February 2026 |
The Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) is expecting the increase of Russia’s buckwheat yield to 1 million tonnes in 2026, up 100 thousand tonnes on the previous year when 900 thousand tonnes were harvested, the head of IKAR Dmitry Rylko said during the Where Is the Margin-2026 conference. They connect the expected growth with the improvement of the market situation after a long period of price drop. According to Rylko, buckwheat price, especially in Altai, had dropped to the level of the 3d class wheat prices, which made many agrarians reduce their cultivated areas. However, prices started to recover since the second half of the current agricultural year, which gives hope for the increase of production. At the same time, the expected yield of 1 million tonnes is still significantly lower than the record figure of 2023, when 1.5 million tonnes were harvested.Source: https://rosng.ru/post/ikar-ozhidaet-uvelicheniya-sbora-grechihi-v-rossii-na-100-tysyach-tonn
