KARELIA STARTING THE PRODUCTION OF BLACK SOLDIER FLY BASED FEED ADDITIVES FOR AQUACULTURE

The production of black soldier fly larvae based trout feed additives is planned to be started in Kondopoga District of the Republic of Karelia. The project provides for the processing of up to 1,000 tonnes of organic waste per year and the production of protein raw materials for aquaculture. The use of black soldier fly larvae allows of processing organic waste into high-protein raw material, reducing the dependence on traditional imported components. At the same time, Karelia Biotechnologies are implementing a pilot project on building modular organic waste processing stations in Petrozavodsk. One container module is able to process 10 to 20 tonnes of raw materials per month and produce zoohumus and feed ingredients. In future, the project is planned to be scaled up, including Saint Petersburg market.
