MANDATORY MARKING OF CERTAIN GROCERIES TO BE INTRODUCED IN RUSSIA IN 2025

An executive order of the Russian Government about this was drafted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The document sets the beginning of registration of all the trade participants in Chestny Znak (Honest Sign) system from 1 March 2025. It is proposed to start marking snacks (chips, nachos, croutons, toasts, corn curls, crispbreads, ready-to-eat popcorn) from 1 May next year; sauces, spices, cubes and other intermediate dry products for cooking broths, as well as vinegar and its substitutes from 1 July 2025.
Currently, an experiment is being carried out in the country in marking these products, it will continue till 28 February 2025. 48 companies are taking part in the experiment, including 44 manufacturers and 4 importers.
