ONE THIRD OF READY TO EAT FOOD PRODUCED WITH VIOLATIONS

About 30 per cent of food producers commit violations of quality and safety of ready-to-eat food in the Russian market today. The scale of production and sale is significantly growing in shops and trade chains. Ingredients are processed manually. No attention is paid to the disinfection of equipment either. This often results in Escherichia coli, Listeria, Salmonella, staphylococci, and other pathogenic microorganisms in food. The State Duma suggested a number of amendments to the law On the Principles of the State Regulation of Trading Activities in the Russian Federation. The list includes the open production of ready-to-eat food in shopping facilities and the use of food products the best before dates of which have not expired.
