PORK CHEAPENING IN RUSSIA

Over the last week of October, Russian pork producers have lowered the price of this kind of meat by 1-3 per cent on the week before. Pork side turned out to be the cheapest of all the positions of this meat. It cost 216 rubles per kilogram. At the same time, the product remains 15-20 per cent more expensive than a year before. It is pointed out that price lowering will have an even more negative impact on pig farmers, whose profitability is already dropping due to economic problems, for example, tight credits. Earlier, Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Agroinvest analytical centre did not exclude the growth of price for this meat by 10-15 per cent to 500-550 rubles per kilogram during the winter of the current year and of the next year.
