SARATOV GREENHOUSES HARVEST 15,500 TONNES OF VEGETABLES IN FOUR MONTHS

The greenhouses of the region harvested 15,500 tonnes of protected ground vegetables in January-April 2026, up 1% on the same period of last year. In particular, the yield of cucumbers amounted to 14,400 tonnes, that of tomatoes was 1,000 tonnes, and 0,100 tonnes of other vegetables (vegetable marrow, leaf lettuce) were harvested. About 42,000 tonnes of protected ground vegetables are expected to be harvested in the region before the end of the current year. The cost price of vegetables in Saratov greenhouses varied from 107.0 to 160.0 rubles per 1 kg of cucumbers and from 160.0 to 250.0 rubles per 1 kg of tomatoes as at 1 May. There are ten greenhouse facilities in the region. The greenhouse sector of the region has been actively developing due to the implementation of investment projects since 2015. The total area of greenhouses has almost doubled over the last ten years and is 123.2 ha now.
