SHOPS TO START BLOCKING THE SALES OF EXPIRED DAIRY PRODUCTS IN A MONTH

Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Yekaterina Priezzheva told at the final collegium of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision that starting from May 1st 2024, permissive mode of selling dairy products at checkouts will come into effect. It means that shops will not be able to sell expired goods or goods forbidden for sale.
“The technical possibility of selling products at the checkout will be excluded in case of their illegal introduction into circulation or expired products. Such an initiative made it possible to block the sale of dangerous illegal and expired products at the level of the checkout software”, Yekaterina Priezzheva explained.
Starting from February 1st, blocking is carried out as part of an experiment in which all producers participate. According to the deputy minister, the sales of expired products in one of the federal retail chains reduced by a factor of 30.
