STATE DUMA PROPOSES TO LIMIT THE USE OF PALM OIL

Palm oil is stated to be useful in household chemicals, for example, as a soap ingredient. However, its surplus in food industry can lead to obesity and health problems. Palm oil is widely used in the production of ice cream, chocolate, chips, confectionery products. Due to this, it is necessary to increase the share of products manufactured using natural milk. The special purpose committee was instructed to address the uncontrolled use of “palm” in food production. Earlier, deputies had offered to cancel tax relief for the producers who use this additive. In 2019, palm oil was already excluded from the list of goods with the discounted VAT rate of 10%.
