SUNFLOWER AND RAPESEED SOWING INCREASES PLANNED TARGETS IN RUSSIA BY MID JUNE

Sunflower sowing has exceeded the planned targets of 12 million ha by the middle of June in Russia and amounted to 12.7 million ha (+5%). The growth is 12.5% on last year. 1.6 million ha were sown in Central Russia, up 6% on last year. Over 5.5 million ha have already been sown to the main oil crop in the Volga Region, up 9% on the plan and 600,000 ha on last year. In Siberia, sown areas have also exceeded the planned target by 7% and amounted to 1.4 million ha (+200,000 ha on 2025). In the South, sunflower sowing is 98% completed, its area is 2.4 million ha. 2.9 million ha of rapeseed were sown in all the regions of the country, up 24% on forecast and more than 22% (500 ha) up on last year’s 2.4 million ha. Areas sown to this crop have grown almost throughout the country. 85% of the planned soybean sowing has been completed, slightly more than 4 million ha have been sown to this crop in total, and the forecast for the current year is 4.8 million ha.
