THE GOVERNMENT HAS EXTENDED THE BAN ON DIESEL EXPORTS FOR PRODUCERS UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER

The Russian government has extended the temporary ban on the export of diesel and marine fuel, as well as gas oils, for direct producers, until September 30, 2026, inclusive, the Cabinet of Ministers reported. The decision was made to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market. Previously, it was assumed that the restrictions for producers would only be in effect until August 31. Thus, the possibility of resuming the export of these types of fuel from September 1 has been postponed by at least a month. Overall, the government introduced a new temporary ban on fuel exports from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. It applies to gasoline, diesel and marine fuel, and gas oils. The decision was made against the backdrop of a tense situation in the domestic petroleum products market. At the same time, the authorities introduced a special mechanism to ensure fuel supplies for farmers: until November 1, 2026, a procedure is in effect for concluding agreements between the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture, regions, and oil companies on regular supplies of gasoline and diesel to agricultural producers. Furthermore, the government has retained the reduced mandatory sales quota for gasoline on the exchange at the level of 10% until the end of 2026.
