THE GROWTH IN LIVESTOCK POPULATION STIMULATES THE DEMAND FOR COMPOUND FEED

The recovery of the cattle and pig population in 2026 is a key factor driving the growth in compound feed production. Preliminary data for January–August 2026 indicate a 2.5% increase in production. In the Southern and Central Federal Districts, where the livestock density is highest, there is increased demand for feed grain. This trend is particularly pronounced in the Southern Federal District, where the share of wheat in feed reaches 22%. The growth in compound feed production stimulates domestic demand for grain and supports producers’ prices, especially during periods of falling export prices. However, the shortage of protein components against the backdrop of rising prices for meal and cake may hinder further growth in volumes. The trend is expected to continue until the end of the year, which creates additional demand for fodder wheat and may partially offset the decline in export flows on the domestic market.
