WINTER SOWING IN THE ORENBURG REGION FOR THE 2027 HARVEST IS GAINING MOMENTUM

For the Orenburg region, winter crops traditionally play an important role, as they make more efficient use of autumn and winter moisture reserves and provide a significant portion of the future harvest. By August 27, 174.8 thousand hectares had been sown with winter crops in the region, which is 22% of the planned area. 1,422 sowing units are in use in the fields. The key crop is winter wheat, which had been sown on 158 thousand hectares by the reporting date. Winter rye was sown on 14,000 hectares, and rapeseed on 2,700 hectares. In terms of sown winter areas, farmers in the Tashlinsky district are currently leading — 14,100 hectares, in the Totsky district — 12,700 hectares, and in the Kurmanaevsky district — 11,700 hectares. In the Buzuluksky and Novosergievsky districts, 11,300 hectares each have been sown. The importance of winter crops is clearly demonstrated by the results of the current harvest. Of the 3.2 million tons of grain, 2.2 million tons came from winter cereals, once again providing the main volume of the gross harvest. The harvesting of spring cereals and legumes continues. As of August 27, cereals have been mowed on an area of 1 million 159.9 thousand hectares and threshed on 1 million 357.4 thousand hectares, or 64% of the harvested area. The total grain harvest has reached 3 million 197 thousand tons. The average yield in the region is 22.6 centners per hectare. 2,100 combines are involved in the harvesting process. In the region’s fields, two key tasks are being addressed simultaneously: the 2026 harvest is being continued, and the foundation for the next season’s harvest is being laid.
