ALMOST 80% OF KUBAN WHEAT OF THE NEW HARVEST IS FOOD-GRADE

The specialists of the Novorossiysk Branch of Agricultural Products Quality Assessment Centre, a Federal State Budgetary Institution, examined the first samples of Kuban wheat taken from a lot with the total volume of more than 92,400 tonnes. According to laboratory examinations, almost 80% of the tested grain was qualified as food-grade, the press service of the institution reported. The main volume of the checked products was 4th class wheat – over 37,600 tonnes (40.7%). Valuable 3d class wheat accounted for 38.8%, or almost 35,900 tonnes, and about 18,900 tonnes of grain were qualified as 5th class following the examinations. All the information about the lots examined was entered into Zerno, the federal state information system for grain traceability. Experts emphasize that the first lots are distinguished by good quality, the absence of sprouted grains, and minimal infestation by Eurygaster. High plumpness of grain was a characteristic feature of this season. Due to high physical characteristics, this wheat is becoming an optimal basis for forming mixed milling blends. Quality 4th class gluten, the index of which consistently remains at the level of the first group of quality (about 72 units of Gluten Deformation Index).
