CHOCOLATE CANDIES HAVE OUTPACED OTHER SWEETS IN TERMS OF PRICE INCREASES

Over the past year, chocolates and *zephyr* (a type of marshmallow-like confection) have seen the most significant price increases among popular confectionery products, while the price of wafers has risen much more modestly. This disparity in price trends reflects the uneven nature of cost changes within the sweets market. According to research by the price-monitoring service Cenozavr, the average cost of a kilogram of chocolates in Russian retail chains has risen by 8.4% over the year, reaching 832 rubles—the highest increase among the confectionery categories analyzed. *Zephyr* ranked second in terms of price growth, with its cost increasing by 8.1% to 188.3 rubles per 250 grams. Standard candies saw a price increase of 5.4% (to 698.8 rubles per kilogram), while cookies rose by 5% (to 162.4 rubles per 300 grams). Wafers experienced the smallest price increase, with their average cost rising by 2.1% over the year to 92.4 rubles per 200 grams. The study tracked prices for confectionery products from various manufacturers across retail chains in Russian cities.
