MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE PLANNING TO RESUME THE REDUCED-RATE LENDING OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF GREENHOUSES
17 January 2026 |
In 2026, Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture is planning to resume the program of reduced-rate lending for the construction of new greenhouses designed not only for cucumbers and tomatoes but also for niche crops. This should also help reduce imports and meet the domestic demand of the country. There is a pressing need for modernization in the industry: about 1500 hectares of old greenhouses need reconstruction. There are already attractive support measures in some regions, such as the Far East, including capital indemnification and reduced-rate credits. Prices for greenhouse vegetables have grown at the beginning of the year, and the ministry explains it by the seasonal adjustment after a period of low prices at the end of 2025. The governmental agency points out that the total volume of greenhouse vegetable production continues to increase.
