NEW VETERINARY RULES FOR POULTRY MANAGEMENT TO BE ESTABLISHED IN RUSSIA

A project of new veterinary rules for poultry management for its breeding, growing, and sale was developed by Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture. Currently, the document is passing through the stage of public discussion.
The rules set up the conditions for poultry range. Pasture management of poultry is possible at farms that produce organic products. At poultry farms with over 1000 birds, range is forbidden. This also concerns large farms, where from 51 to 1000 birds are managed, but here the range may be organized on an isolated area – solarium. For this purpose, holes for voluntary exit to solarium must be arranged for poultry, and different poultry species must exit to this area separately.
Besides, the veterinary rules specify poultry drinking and feeding conditions, requirements to quarantine, prophylactic, and diagnostic measures. The rules are supposed to enter into force on 1 September 2025 and to be mandatory for farms of all forms of ownership.
