ROSSELKHOZBANK CENTRE FOR INDUSTRY EXPERTISE PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF THE CATCH OF AQUATIC BIORESOURCES

As of yearend 2025, significant growth is recorded for such species as walleye pollock, herring, salmonids, and scomber, whereas a marked decrease is observed for the catch of cod. Walleye pollock is still making the biggest contribution in the catches. As estimated by the Centre for Industry Expertise, its catch has reached 2,163.9 thousand tonnes, up 11.3% on the previous year. Walleye pollock remains the key caught species, providing almost a half of the total volume harvested and serving as the basic raw material for mass processing. Herring showed a significant growth: its catch increased to 656.7 thousand tonnes, up 24.5% on 2024. The growth of this group strengthens the positions of canning and processing industry which is focused on mass consumer. Salmonids have become one of the most dynamic segments. According to preliminary estimates, their catch has amounted to 335.6 thousand tonnes, having increased by 46.4% year-on-year.
