RUSSIA INCREASES THE PRODUCTION OF SEVERAL TYPES OF GRITS IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE YEAR

Russia increased the production of as many as three types of grits significantly during the first quarter of the current year: buckwheat, corn, and semolina. Of them, the production of buckwheat increased the most compared to the same period of last year – by 8.8%, to 137,000 tonnes. Semolina output increased by 3.8%, to 24,300 tonnes. Corn grits production grew by 1.3% year on year, to 24,100 tonnes. Among the types the production of which decreased, oats dropped most of all, half as much, to 17,200 tonnes. 7.5% less rice grits were managed to be produced (114,500 tonnes). 1.2% less peeled barley groats were produced (15,100 tonnes). There was a slight decrease in pearl barley production as well, by 0.8%, to 23,600 tonnes. The production of other grit types not included in the list has grown by 5.1% to 66,700 tonnes. Over the 7 months of the agricultural grit year (which starts in September for this product in Russia), production was higher on the whole than during the same periods of previous agricultural seasons. In total, 1.94 million tonnes were produced at that moment.
