RUSSIAN DAIRY PRODUCERS TO GENERATE 12 BILLION RUBLES FROM PREDICTIVE VETERINARY ANALYTICS

Early detection and prevention of lameness in cattle would allow the dairy industry to avoid losses amounting to 5 billion rubles annually, while the timely identification of conditions linked to weight loss and metabolic disorders could prevent losses of 7 billion rubles per year. Anastasia Grecheneva, Director of the Project Institute for Digital Transformation of the Agro-Industrial Complex, announced this at the "Golden Autumn" exhibition. A digital AI-based system for monitoring cattle health and assessing conformation is being developed as part of a major livestock project. The project comprises two modules but relies on a unified technological foundation utilizing computer vision and AI. The domestic platform—a pilot version of which is already undergoing testing—enables the early detection of lameness and other abnormalities, as well as the assessment of metabolic status, body condition score (BCS), condition trends, behavior, and indicators of metabolic disorder risks. Milk losses per lame cow amount to at least 183 kg per lactation (though they can reach as high as 1,289 kg). Given that, on average, 22.8% of the 3-million-strong cattle population develops lameness, total industry losses are estimated at 125,000 tonnes—or 5.2 billion rubles, based on a price of 41.25 rubles per kilogram of raw milk. Predictive analytics for metabolic disorders can prevent a drop in milk yields valued at 7.1 billion rubles.Source: https://agroexpert.press/zhivotnye-ryba-pticza/zhivotnovody-rf-zarabotayut-12-mlrd-rublej-na-rannem-vyyavlenii-osnovnyh-patologij-krs/
