SAUSAGE PRICES TO GROW IN AUGUST

Several producers of sausage and meat delicacies notified retail chains of the increase of their product prices by 8-15 per cent. In particular, pork had the biggest growth in price. Prices for pork trimmings containing half of lean and fatty meat spiked by 91 per cent year-on-year, those for live pigs did by 40 per cent, for pork shoulder – by 34, ham – by 30, second category half carcass– by 28 per cent. Beef price increased by 11-26 per cent, poultry price grew by 13 per cent. The reasons for the price increase were the growth of prices for raw materials, housing and utility services, salaries, and logistics. Among ingredients, sausage casing grew in price by 20 per cent, spices and additives did by 13 per cent.
