THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYER-SPONSORED PLACES IN THE AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES OF RUSSIA GROWS BY A THIRD IN A YEAR

The number of places for employer sponsored education in the Russian agricultural universities has grown from 7000 to 9,500 since last year. The Ministry of Agriculture named five most popular areas of study which provided this growth. These are agronomy, agroengineering and veterinary medicine, animal science, agricultural production and processing technology. It is also pointed out that employers announced their need in such vacancies as agricultural chemists, geneticists, selectionists, and food biotechnologies specialists. This mechanism allows the industry to educate specialists for the specific tasks of the enterprises, regions, and the biggest companies of the agro-industrial complex. Starting from this year, employer-sponsored places will be reserved for specific companies and farms, with the mode of study, educational programs, and number of places specified. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut reported about the main components of the sector’s development. For example, today these are not only classical agrarian professions but also digital solutions, unmanned systems, and the development of biotechnology, genetics, and selection.
